Superintendent's Message

Mr. Rinkes

Charles Rinkes
Superintendent, River View Local Schools

Dear River View Local School District,

As we move into the final weeks of the 2021-22 school year, I would like to take this time to thank all of our stakeholders.  This school year, like the past few, has been very challenging for everyone. Hopefully we have the pandemic in our rearview mirror as we look forward towards the summer of 2022.

There is still a lot to do in the 2021-22 school year.  We have just started our Ohio State Testing regiment and that will last until the first week in May.  I know each school has track and field days along with banquets to celebrate their students' accomplishments.  This year the district is sponsoring a dinner for the Teacher of the Year and Staff Member of the year from each building.  A Teacher of the Year for RVLSD will be recognized by the MVESC next spring.  We need to recognize the excellence that happens in our district each day.

We are also bringing back Black Bear Fest on May 7th from 10-2 pm at the high school.  Come out and see student work displayed, hear great music, play on the inflatables and visit the many booths.  Fire trucks, MedFlight and local dealerships are also taking part this year.  The plan is to have Black Bear Fest every other year.  We want to celebrate the excellence that is River View Local School District.

Finally, I want to say thank you to everyone who has attended any of the recent community meetings and Coffee with Chuck.  As you know the board made a difficult decision, because of our finances to reduce our footprint for the next two years and get to one elementary school and one intermediate school.  In the fall of 2023 both Keene and Conesville Schools will be retired.  We will work with both the alumni associations and PTO to celebrate their place in history.  We are very proud of our past but excited for the future of RV LSD as we move into the next configuration with three schools in our footprint.

Have a great rest of your school year!  As always Go Bears!
